I have a mat to cover the desk or space that I am working on so to keep those surfaces clear. Standard nail lacqure and acetone can easily damage surfaces by either staining them or stripping them of their finish and this can act as a good way to protect those surfaces from that potential damage.
Nail tips are artifical pre molded extensions made out of ABS plastic that are applied to the natural nail for legnth before applying a polygel or acrylic overlay. Personally I dont work with acrylic at this time and only use them for polygel.
Nail polish is the colored paint that is used to decorate the nails for cosmetic reasons. At this point I primarily work with gel polish however nail polish can also refer to nail laqure which can air dry by itself without the use of a UV or LED lamp.
Dust collectors are used when filing and shaping enhancemnets since this often results in large amounts of dust getting into the air. A dust collector is able to pull that dust down and keep it from getting into the lungs of the nail tech or clients.
An electronic nail file that is used to file and shape the nail or to remove old product. Often it is used to file and shape nail enhancements since it is much quicker than hand filing. However while it is faster you also need to be careful to not burn or cut the client when using an efile.

Builders gel is a thick nail enhancemnt that is used to strenghten the natural nail. It can also be used with nail forms to extend the length of the natural nail by a bit, however for longer enhancments alternatives like GelX, Polygel, or acrylic will need to be used. Builders gel is currently my prefered and what I like to use on my own nails
Cotton rounds can be used for a variety of things. Soaking off old product, cleaning the nail plate, and removing nail lacquer, uncured gel polish or the inhibition layer on cured gel polish. I know that ther are also lint free cotton rounds that people will use as well since one of the biggest downsides to cotton rounds is their potential to leave behind bits of cotton when using them.
